Capital market declines further, NEPSE index plummets by 5.89 points


Kathmandu: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 5.89 points to close at 1,460.73 points Thursday.

The sub-indices of all groups except microfinance and hydropower declined significantly today.

The sub-indices of insurance, development bank and hotel group declined by the highest points of 24.45 points, 11.96 points and 9.34 points to close at 7,974.51 points, 1,742.64 points and 2,175.02 points respectively.

Likewise, the sub-indices of commercial bank, finance and manufacturing group went down by 6.75 points, 7.64 points and 3 points to stand at 1,246.26 points, 754.79 points and 2,399.33 points respectively.

Sub-indices of trading and other’ groups declined by 1.86 points and 1.45 points respectively.

However, sub-indices of hydropower and microfinance group went up by 6.53 points and 1.3 points to stand at 1,781.05 points and 1,738.50 points respectively.

The NEPSE registered transaction with 154 companies making the turnover around of Rs. 468 million with a total of 1,046,723 shares through 5,533 transactions.

The sensitive index which measures the index of group “A companies” decreased marginally by 1.19 points to close at 306.79 points on Thursday.
