Kathmandu: General people can receive clean and fresh currency notes from September 13 as the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has planned to circulate these clean notes considering the major festival Dashain and Tihar.
According to the central bank, an individual can exchange up to Rs. 27,000 from the counters of its Currency Management Department from the next week.
General public can get the exchange facility for notes of Rs. 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50 and Rs 100 denominations.
People can also get exchange facility of new notes from different branches of Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) and Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) from September 13 itself.
However, the public can avail new currency notes worth only Rs 20,000 from the outlets of these banks.
According to NRB, NBL will provide exchange facility of new notes from its branches based in Balaju, Patan, Kirtipur, New Road and Bhaktapur, ADBL will distribute new notes from its branches at Gaushala, Koteshwor, Ramshah Path and Mangalbazar.
Similarly, public can also get the exchange facility of new notes for Dashain from the branches of Rastriya Banijya Bank in Singhadurbar Plaza, Teku, Sano Thimi, New Baneshwor, Naxal and Bishalbazar.
The private banks and financial institutions can exchange notes from the currency management division of the central bank from September 6 onward.
Likewise, NRB said that it would manage special arrangement for the exchange of notes to personnel of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and the civil servants upon the submission of an application, as per availability.
The NRB would start the distribution of fresh notes to them from September 6 to September 15 from its Thapathali counter.
