Kathmandu: The government elevated Home Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi as Chief Secretary of the Nepal government Monday.
Among three possible candidates for the chief secretary race, Regmi won the race though he was in third senior position among Finance Secretary Shankar Adhikari and Naingdra Prasad Upadhayay of the Prime Minister Office.
According to Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Regmi was appointed to the post for three years to come into effect from Wednesday.
Current chief secretary Rajendra Kishore Kshatri was retiring from Tuesday on a compulsory age-ground service after 58 years.
Similarly, the government today reshuffled the secretaries. Forest Secretary Prakash Mathema has been transferred to the Ministry of Livestock Development, Madhu Prasad Regmi trasnfered to Ministry of Education from Public Service Commission, Yuvak Dhoj GC to Forest Ministry from Ministry of Livestock Development. Reshmi Raj Pandey has been brought to the Ministry of General Administration .
