Kathmandu: The government Monday decided to move forward the constitution amendment bill tabled in the parliament and extended the deadline of the taskforce formed to study the report of the commission for local restructuring.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar took the decision to this effect, said Minister for Information and Communications and the government spokesperson Surendra Kumar Karki.
“The cabinet meeting today decided to move forward the amendment bill as per the demands of Madhes-based parties,” said Minister Karki after the meeting.
Likewise, the cabinet decided to work further to establish Federal Commission to address the demands of agitating ethnic groups and communities.
Meanwhile, the cabinet asked the taskforce formed under the leadership of Minister for Local Development Hitaraj Pandey to complete its study by next week and recommend the cabinet on what can be done to the report submitted by the commission for local restructuring.
The next two cabinet meetings are scheduled for 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
