Nepal Chamber Expo kicks off

Kathmandu:  The third edition of the ‘Nepal Chamber Expo 2017’ kicked off at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Centre from Thursday.

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Trade and Export Promotion Centre organised a five-day expo with an objective of promoting trade and business and facilitating export trade in the international market.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the expo amidst a function.

President Bhandari urged the government and the private sector to work with mutual cooperation and coordination for making the country a prosperous.

She said that the private sector and the government should move ahead with concrete vision and mission of economic development.

The country has huge potential in resources, she said, adding; that it is necessary to use the natural resources properly by using the human resources by retain the youth inside the country.

As large numbers of youths are going abroad for jobs, she said that the government and the private sector should focus for promoting the industrial and commerce sector to retain the youths in the country that would ultimately support for making the country economically strong.

Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce Chandra Ghimire said that the government was effortful to create business friendly environment along with attracting the both domestic and foreign investment in the country as the investment is must for development.

President of NCC Rajesh Kazi Shrestha stressed the need of promoting the industrial sector and increase domestic production to overcome the increasing trade deficit.

He said that the private sector was ready to make a partner of the government for economic development of the country.

Shrestha said that expo will focus on business interaction, export-import, exchange of information and technology among the participants and promote Nepali products in home and abroad.

Participation of the representatives from the international community is expected to explore the Nepali products in the international market.

South Korea presented as a partner country of the expo and Thailand as focus country.

Various products including automobile, electrical and electronic, flooring and furnishing, home appliances, fashions wears and accessories, mobile and gadgets are displaying in the expo.
