Bhawan Bhatta elected new NRNA president outshining Gurung

Kathmandu: Bhawan Bhatta has been elected as new chairman of the Non-resident Nepalis through the 8th general convention held in the capital on Monday night.

Bhatta outshined Ms Jamuna Ghale Gurung with total vote difference of 613 votes. Bhatta garnered a total of 1,197.

Bhatta is Japan-based NRN,while Gurung is Austraila-based NRN and spouse of the outgoing chairman Shesh Ghale.

According to Kul Prasad Pandey, one of the members of the election committee, out of total 1,854 voters, 1,788 votes have been casted.

Similary, Kumar Panta and Kul Acharya have been elected as vice-presidents. Pant has been reelected as vice-president for the second time by securing 1,030 votes. Sapila Rajbhandari has been elected as women vice-president securing 1,054 votes.

The general convention has elected Dr Badri Bahadur KC as general secretary of the Association. He had secured 767 votes. He had defeated Yam Gurung and Arjun Shrestha vying for the same post.
